About Me: As of this month, I am officially a quarter of a century old, or young… depending on who you ask… I am a full time culinary student and have no idea what I want to do with my degree once I graduate, but am completely OK with that. I was raised in a family of 5 children, 2 cats, and one dog and have lived in the same zip code for the past 15 years. A year ago I bought a Boston Terrier who I primarily call Brutus, although Tiny, Brutogamous, Teeny, and Aurelious are all other names I favor from time to time. He is an 11 pound ball of energy and constantly reminds me to live for the small things in life…pun intended! Ten months ago I met and fell in love with the, now, single most important person in my life…Josh. Josh is a loving brother, devoted son, remarkable friend, talented musician, and a three-time cancer survivor. His passion for life, impeccable character and thirst for knowledge continues to inspire me on a daily basis. He has shown me how to trust, communicate, and love in a way I never knew was possible. His battle with cancer is not one I have personally witnessed… because thankfully, his cancer has been in remission for a little over a year, and he is feeling healthier than ever before. He is more dedicated than ever to sharing his experiences and helping to give cancer patients and their loved ones what they need to survive and to live well. While I am grateful to be a part of his journey into the future, I would like to better understand the struggles of his past. I am entering into this community in hopes to connect with other people who have been, in some way, affected by Cancer. I want to better educate myself so that I too can help raise awareness, and if nothing else, make a few friends along the way! P.S. Josh had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. When diagnosed, it was at a stage 4 and was primarily located in his sternum, lower spine and throughout his bone marrow. He was treated on three separate occasions beginning first with chemo and radiation. The second time he was treated with chemo and received a bone marrow transplant. Lastly, (just over a year ago) he went through a six week radiation treatment and his cancer has since been in remission!
